"You just have to live and life will give you pictures."
They say that we take photographs as a return ticket to a moment otherwise gone, a tangible echo of time's fleeting passage. If that's true, then I would like to buy another return ticket to this mesmerising city of sun-drenched hills and the myriad treasures nestled within its ancient heart.
My first encounter with this Iberian gem was a serendipitous gift. Whilst photographing the wedding of a lovely couple in Portugal, the newlyweds, in their boundless generosity, presented me with an overnight stay in Lisbon. It had long topped my wanderlist, and it not only met, but profoundly exceeded my every expectation.
Lisbon is a living canvas for any photographer. The air hummed with inspiration, promising countless stories yet to be unveiled. I can't wait to return, and delve deeper into its labyrinthine alleys and sun-dappled squares. Every facet of this city sings a poetic song: the warmth of its people, the richness of its culture, the intricate beauty of its decor, and its unmistakable, vibrant soul. The golden hour, painting the faces of its inhabitants and the weathered facades of its buildings, as they all gracefully sweep downhill, towards the boundless expanse of the beautiful Atlantic Ocean.
Lisbon, I shall return.
